PopMuseum

The PopMuseum is short for The Museum and Archive of Popular Music, a place devoted to Czech and Slovak popular music and its history as well as to archiving audio, written, and audio-visual records. Inside the museum, located in the Kastan cultural centre, you'll find databases, specialised magazines and literature about popular Czech music, as well as a whole library of audio recordings and video of performances. There is also a permanent exhibition of musical instruments, particularly electric guitars made in Czechoslovakia and a selection of keyboard instruments. Temporary exhibitions typically focus on a specific influential artist or movement in the Czechoslovak music scene of the past, such as the Plastic People of the Universe. |
