Golden Lane

The Golden Lane (Zlata ulicka) winds its way down in a tucked off corner of the Prague Castle. The lane is lined with houses dating back to the 15th century. Today the houses are filled with shops selling everything from postcards and souvenirs to artwork to textiles. Even if you're not here to shop, it's worth entering a few just to feel like a giant for a few minutes, as the houses seem built to accommodate hobbits rather than humans. From 1916 to 1917 house No. 22 was inhabited by Franz Kafka. For the full medieval experience, test your skill with a crossbow in the medieval museum on the Lane, which also holds a small armory exhibit.
