The 18th century villa in Prague, home to the Museum of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was returned to the Czech Mozart Association.
After years of law suits, the verdict was clear: the building should go back to its rightful owner. The Viennese composer stayed in villa Bertramka in 1787. The Mozart Association bought the house in 1929 from the Mozarteum international foundation, but the residency was taken away from the Association during the rule of the communist regime in 1986.
It took the organization 18 years to get the villa back. Now, the MA would like to change the museum display and hold regular concerts of Mozart music for the public there - says Tomas Volek, chairman of the organization.
