Heading to the Paris of the East this winter season? If this Christmas turns out to be a white one, you're in for quite the view. But there's more to Prague than architecture and snow, and during the holiday season there is plenty to see and do to get into the Christmas spirit.

The most popular attraction for visitors in December is the Christmas Market on Old Town and Wenceslas Squares. There are also smaller markets on Havelske Trziste and Namesti Republiky. These beautifully decorated markets are filled will stalls selling folk crafts, hand-made gifts, local rustic food and delicious drinks such as mulled wine. A must-see when in Prague during the holiday season!

For a bit of Christmas-themed culture, head to the Philharmonic or the Opera, both of which will be presenting classic wintertime performances such as the Nutcracker and Handel's Messiah.

Finally, if you're looking to celebrate New Year's Eve with the masses at the free yearly celebrations in Prague head to Wenceslas Square where performances will be taking place all night. Look up for fireworks at the strike of midnight!
