Prague’s Astronomical Clock Shut for Repairs

Bad news for those who have been looking forward to visiting the mechanical wonder that is Prague’s Astronomical Clock. One of the most iconic Prague sights, the clock is located on the southern wall of the old City Hall in the Old Town’s Market Square. The clock features three components, with dials representing the position of the sun and moon, a calendar dial, as well as the distinctive parade of Apostles.

The 600-year-old clock will be shut for repair until 25 April 2011 while the structure of the Old Town City Hall will also be renovated during the three-week interval.
