Creator of The Little Mole Dies at 90

Zdenek Miler, the Czech creator of the world famous cartoon character Krtek, has died at the age of 90. Krtek (Little Mole) was beloved by generations of children not just in the Czech regions but also abroad including as far as Japan.

The first Krtek project was How the Mole Got His Trousers, a 1956 film which won a silver lion at the Venice Film Festival. Krtek continued to evolve and gain popularity with his easily understandable stories for kids, featuring himself and his animal friends.

Krtek even had the chance to go to space, spending two weeks aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour with US astronaut Andrew Feustel.
