Astronomical Clock Figures Under Repair

 

Four figures from Prague's famous astronomical clock have been removed for maintenance and repairs, a process which will likely take two months. The wooden figures, which include a skeletal statue representing Death, will be delicately repaired with some new paint to help fight against damage from humidity.

The 600-year-old medieval clock hangs on Old Town Hall's facade on the Market Square, and is one of Prague's most beloved tourist destinations. Tourists flock to the location to watch the clock's many figures move to mark the arrival of each hour. During the repairs, the clock will not be shut down.
